How it works

Three steps. A few seconds.

Nothing to download. Nothing to sign up for. If you can text, you can use it.

1

You get a call you're not sure about

The phone rings. The person says they're from your bank, Medicare, or the IRS. They sound official, but they're asking for money or personal information.

That feeling is your cue to check before you trust.

"This is your bank's fraud department…"

You text us the number

Open your text messages, just like texting a friend. Send the caller's number to (781) 590-3599. No other words needed.

Tip: save us as "CallMatch" so we're ready the moment you need it.

You get a clear answer back

In seconds, we text you what's in our database, in plain language. A Match found means the number you sent matches an official number we have on file. No match means it isn't in our database. We can only speak to the number you send us, not to who actually called you.

Every answer includes a simple safety reminder, too.

Match foundThe number you sent matches the official Citizens Bank line in our database (citizensbank.com). This confirms the number is on our list, not who called you. Never share your PIN or password.
No matchThe number you sent isn't in our database. This doesn't prove anything about your call. The safest step is to hang up and call back using the number on your card.
Answers before you ask

Common questions

Do I need to download anything?
No. There is no app and no account. You use TheCallMatch entirely through the text messaging app already on your phone.
Does it cost anything?
The service is free. The only cost is your normal text messaging rate from your phone plan, which most people don't pay extra for. Message and data rates may apply.
What information do you collect about me?
Very little. We need your phone number to text you back and the number you're asking about. We never ask for your name, accounts, or personal details, and we don't sell your information. See our Privacy Policy for the full details.
If a number comes back "Match found," is the call definitely safe?
No. A "Match found" result only means the number you sent matches an official number in our database. It does not confirm who actually called you, because criminals can fake ("spoof") the number that shows on your screen. Always stay careful, and never share your PIN, password, or one-time codes, no matter what number appears. When in doubt, hang up and call back using the number on your card.
How do I stop receiving messages?
Text the word STOP to our number any time, and we won't message you again unless you text us first. Text HELP any time to get information about the service.
