Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 10, 2026

This policy explains what information TheCallMatch collects when you use our text-message verification service, how we use it, and the choices you have. We've written it in plain language on purpose.

01Who we are

TheCallMatch is a service operated by TheCallMatch LLC, a limited liability company registered in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. When this policy says "we," "us," or "TheCallMatch," it means TheCallMatch LLC. When it says "you," it means anyone who uses our service by sending us a text message.

Our service lets you text a phone number to us and receive a reply telling you whether that number matches an official number in our database of banks, government agencies, and major companies. We can only tell you about the number you send us; we do not know who called you.

02Information we collect

We've designed TheCallMatch to need as little information from you as possible. We do not ask for your name, your address, your account numbers, or any other personal details in order to use the service.

When you text us, we receive and process:

  • Your mobile phone number. This is the number you're texting from. We need it so our system can text you back with an answer.
  • The content of your message. This is the phone number you're asking us to check, along with any keywords such as STOP or HELP.
  • Basic message details. The date and time of the message and standard technical information our messaging provider needs to deliver texts reliably.

We do not collect your location, your contacts, or any information from your device. We have no app, so there is nothing installed on your phone that could gather data.

The only database we maintain is our directory of official phone numbers for banks, government agencies, and major companies, collected from their official websites. That is what we check your request against. We do not build or keep profiles of the people who text us.

03How we use your information

We use the limited information we receive only to operate the service. Specifically, we use it to:

  • Read the phone number you sent and check it against our database of official numbers.
  • Text you back with the result of that check and any related safety reminder.
  • Respond to STOP, HELP, and similar requests as required.
  • Keep the service working reliably, prevent abuse, and meet our legal obligations.

We do not use your information to build a profile of you, to advertise to you, or for any purpose unrelated to answering your verification request.

04SMS messaging terms

TheCallMatch works entirely over SMS text messaging. The following terms apply to those messages.

How you opt in

You opt in to receive messages from TheCallMatch by texting us first. When you send a phone number, the word HELP, or any message to our number, you are requesting a reply and consenting to receive a response from us. We only ever text you in direct response to a message you have sent us. We do not send marketing texts, and we do not add you to any recurring campaign.

Message frequency: You receive a reply only when you text us. There is no set or recurring number of messages. Message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile plan.

How to stop messages

You are always in control. At any time you can text STOP to our number to opt out and stop receiving messages from us. After you text STOP, we will send one confirmation message and will not text you again unless you contact us first.

How to get help

Text HELP to our number at any time and we will reply with information about the service and how to reach us. You can also contact us using the details at the bottom of this page.

Carriers

Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Supported carriers may change at any time.

05When we share information

We do not sell your information, and we do not share it for anyone else's marketing. No mobile information is shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.

We share the limited information described above only in these narrow situations:

  • With service providers who help us operate. For example, the messaging platform that actually delivers our texts. These providers may only use the information to perform services for us and are bound to keep it confidential.
  • When the law requires it. If we receive a valid legal request, such as a court order, we may disclose information to the extent required to comply.
  • To protect people. If necessary to investigate fraud, protect someone's safety, or enforce our terms.

06How long we keep information

We keep message information only as long as we reasonably need it to operate the service, keep it secure, prevent abuse, and meet our legal obligations. We do not build long-term profiles of the people who text us.

We use a third-party messaging provider to send and receive texts. That provider may retain message logs under its own policies and retention periods, which are outside our direct control. We do not sell this information or use it for marketing.

07Your choices and rights

You have meaningful control over your information:

  • Opt out at any time by texting STOP. This is the simplest and fastest way to stop all messages.
  • Ask what we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, by contacting us using the details below. We will respond as required by applicable law.
  • Reach a person. If you have any question about your privacy, you can always contact us directly.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act. We honor the rights that apply to you. To exercise any of them, just contact us.

08How we protect your information

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect the limited information we handle against loss, misuse, and unauthorized access. No method of transmission over mobile networks or the internet is perfectly secure, so we cannot promise absolute security, but we work to keep your information safe and to minimize how much we collect in the first place.

09Children's privacy

TheCallMatch is intended for adults. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us a message, please contact us and we will delete the information.

10Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the "last updated" date at the top of this page and post the new version here. If we make a significant change, we will make reasonable efforts to let users know.

11How to contact us
